CLIFF DEMPSEY RACING

Cliff Dempsey Racing is the most successful team in the history of Irish motorsport. In the ten short years since it's creation the team has won Cliff Dempsey - Team Principalsix Formula Opel Championships, four Formula Ford Championships and two Formula Ford Zetec Championships.

Run by highly acclaimed former driver, Cliff Dempsey, the team has gone from strength to strength, initially in the preparation of Formula Ford 1600 cars before progressing into Ireland's premier single seater class Formula Opel.

As a driver, Cliff Dempsey started racing successfully in the Mini 7 series in 1977 before taking more top awards in the Modsports class two years later. In 1982 he moved into single seater racing, taking numerous wins before claiming the Crossle Championship in 1986, for which he won a drive in the works Crossle.
Peter Dempsey - Mechanic
Cliff's son Peter has also been a mechanic for the team but this season he has achieved his burning ambition to climb into the driving seat of one of Cliff's cars. (see Brands Hatch race report)

Michelle

Cliff's wife Michelle is in attendance at most meetings and looks after the administration and well-being of the team.

Cliff Dempsey Racing was set up in 1989, the Ashbourne driver initially running a two car team for himself and Dane, Knud Jensen. This move meant the arrival of the first full-time professionally run team in Ireland. The team has since progressed from small beginnings to a four car, eight mechanic and 40ft transporter equipment.

The team's results have been second to none since its inception, this success is not only due to the informal and friendly atmosphere which brings out the best in everyone working under the CDR awning, but Dempsey's own experience as a driver.
